Pre-school education
The Nelson Tasman region has 70 facilities offering care for very young babies through to school age. The range covers child-care, Playcentres, Montessori, Kindergartens and Christian pre-schools. All New Zealand pre-schools have to meet high government standards. Nelson and Tasman both score well on attendance with nearly 80% of the pre-school population attending state funded preschools in Nelson and 70% in Tasman, a measure seen as an indicator of how well a child will do throughout the school years.
