A Partnership between Department of Labour and Nelson City Council
Join Ingrid Huygens as she introduces Tangata Tiriti – Treaty People, an interactive discussion and activity-based kit for facilitators, teachers and community leaders. The kit gives simple, accurate information about the Treaty of Waitangi in plain English, and is aimed at adult migrants and other new settlers.
The training is over one day and will teach participants to communicate with their clients and communities. Participants will be led through numerous sample activities, to demonstrate the easy to understand and functional visual tools contained in the kit. Ingrid has devised a sample of our day, but it may change and adapt with the dynamics on the day.
Where: Nelson City Council Chamber
When: 10am – 4pm 9th April 2010
Cost: $50.00- your agency will be invoiced upon confirmation of your attendance
Participants will receive a completion certificate at the end of the session.
This one day workshop is dedicated to providing the tools to leaders and educators so that they in turn can deliver this important information to newcomers or any other clients. There will be time at the end to plan for relevant use in their own settings. We hope to have a cross section of tangata whenua, migrant community leaders, ESOL tutors, careers advisors, youth workers, community workers and more.
Confirm your attendance by contacting Sonny Alesana on +64 3 546 0305.
